Two arrested after fleeing vehicle crashes into barrier in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Two people were arrested after a vehicle failed to stop for police and crashed into a barrier in Kamloops’ West End neighbourhood Friday (Sept. 1) morning.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP say a patrolling officer attempted to stop a black SUV at around 9 a.m.

The SUV reportedly didn’t stop, sped away and crashed into the barrier at the Summit Drive/Victoria Street West hairpin turn.

Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says two people were seen fleeing the SUV. They were found and taken into custody shortly after.

“Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident and no other vehicles were struck. The suspects currently remain in custody while police investigate further,” Evelyn adds.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or has video of it or the occupants fleeing the vehicle, is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.
