Kamloops to celebrate Labour Day
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops and District Labour Council will be throwing its annual Labour Day picnic on Monday (Sept. 4) to celebrate Labour Day.
With music, face painting and plenty of other activities, the event is intended to bring awareness to the job done by workers and unions. “It’s a good time for all of us to come together and talk about what we can do and what we’ve done. Celebrate our accomplishments, because we have done a lot over the years,” said Lois Rugg, President of the Kamloops and District Labour Council.
Rugg said the picnic will be open to the public and everyone is welcome. “We just want people to have a happy Labour Day and remember why we are celebrating this day, why we have a holiday and the things we work for,” she said.
The picnic will be held at McDonald Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
