IIO called to Revelstoke to investigate death of man
REVELSTOKE — B.C.’s Independent Investigations Office (IIO) has been called to Revelstoke to determine the circumstances around the death of a suspect in a stolen vehicle investigation.
The incident occurred Sunday (Aug. 27) evening at 11 p.m. when RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle. Within the hour, the owner of the vehicle had located the vehicle but then the vehicle sped off.
Shortly after, police were able to identify the vehicle and stopped it after the stolen vehicle and a police vehicle collided.
The suspect ran from the stolen vehicle and was pursued on foot by police. He was able to jump into the police vehicle and that’s when an RCMP officer fired his gun, striking the man.
