KAMLOOPS — One of Canada’s leading mining companies is donating more than $230 thousand to support emergency wildfire responses in B.C., the Northwest Territories, Alberta, and Washington State. In addition, Teck says it will match donations made by employees to community organizations of their choice.

Teck says it is already supporting wildfire suppression efforts near its operations with supplies and accommodations as needed.

“This wildfire season has been devastating for thousands of families and we are committed to helping support impacted communities and people,” said Jonathan Price, Teck C.E.O. “Teck will continue to support those organizations working around the clock to fight wildfires and provide emergency assistance during the fire season and after as communities look towards recovery.”

Among the groups receiving funds is the Kamloops Food Bank. It’s receiving a donation of $10 thousand.
