RCMP arrest violent offender in Williams Lake for unlawfully holding a gun

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — A person known to police as a violent offender was arrested in Williams Lake for unlawfully holding a gun after a case that began on the Anaham reserve near Alexis Creek.

In a news release issued Wednesday (Aug. 24), Williams Lake RCMP say the person was seen in a vehicle with a gun on Aug. 17.

The suspect’s vehicle was found although it reportedly fled from police when officers attempted to arrest him.

Then on Aug. 23, police say the person was found at a home in Williams Lake. RCMP did not specify which part of the city.

After they contained the home, RCMP say their attempts to have the person exit on their own were unsuccessful. Police then obtained a search warrant and arrested them. Their matter is before the courts.
