Kamloops RCMP recover stolen firefighting equipment and arrest youth suspect
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP recovered stolen firefighting equipment and arrested one person in connection with a rash of overnight robberies in the city.
Police were called to the 1400 block of Hugh Allan Drive early Monday and again early Tuesday morning. In the Tuesday robbery, approximately $10 thousand in gear was taken along with medical equipment including an AED. In both robberies, a black truck was spotted near the scene.
A short time after the Tuesday robbery, police spotted the truck at 4:40 a.m. as they were responding to another robbery in the 100 Block of Vernon Avenue. They managed to apprehend one youth suspect however two males managed to flee on foot.
The young suspect was released, pending the outcome of the investigation. He was previously known to police.
