WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Investigations throughout August led to two significant drug seizures in the Cariboo.

In a news release issued Tuesday (Aug. 22), the RCMP’s Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Unit says it began with a seemingly routine traffic stop outside 100 Mile House on Aug. 6. Police say the vehicle was associated to a person from the Lower Mainland known to police who has ties to the Cariboo and Bella Coola.

Police say evidence of possible drug trafficking was seen and officers searched the vehicle and both its occupants: a man and a woman. Police say a large amount of cash, suspected methamphetamines, GHB and a loaded shotgun were seized.

Following the seizure, police say a search warrant was executed further west at an associated home in Hagensborg where members of the Bella Coola RCMP found further amounts of suspected methamphetamines and GHB, as well as a stolen vehicle.

Nearly two weeks later on Aug. 18, the Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Unit and Williams Lake RCMP executed a search warrant at a home in the city’s north end that’s associated to a person known to police.

During their search, police state they found suspected fentanyl cocaine, methamphetamines other controlled substances and a significant amount of cash. Police also say they found paraphernalia commonly seen in drug trafficking investigations.

RCMP say the man and the woman searched outside of 100 Mile House, along with the man who is a resident of the Williams Lake home, could face multiple charges.
