Planned ignition complete on Lower East Adams Lake wildfire; situation remains fluid
LEE CREEK, B.C. — The BC Wildfire Service was able to follow through with its planned aerial ignition on the Lower East Adams Lake wildfire Thursday (Aug. 17) afternoon.
In a news release Thursday evening, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) says the 2,600-hectare ignition went along the powerline in the North Shuswap.
The ignition was intended to cut down on the available fuel between the southeast edge of the Lower East Adams Lake fire and the communities of Lee Creek and Scotch Creek.
The CSRD states there is no “pre-planned timing” for an evacuation order, although the situation remains fluid. Both Lee Creek and Scotch Creek remain on evacuation alert.
