LEE CREEK, B.C. — The B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS) is warning communities on alert due to the Lower East Adams Lake wildfire that they may be put on evacuation order as early as Thursday (Aug. 17).

An update posted to the BCWS website Thursday morning notes evacuation orders may be issued Thursday or Friday because of the “severe wind event” expected to arrive in the area.

“Now is the time to prepare your homes for fire,” says the update. “There will be extreme fire behaviour observed where wind and slope align.”

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District put the North Shuswap communities of Lee Creek and Scotch Creek on evacuation alert Wednesday.
