Columbia Shuswap Regional District issues evacuation alert for Lee Creek

CHASE, B.C. — A new evacuation alert was issued by the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) Wednesday (Aug. 16) morning.

In a news release, the CSRD says the Lower East Adams Lake wildfire is increasing risk to properties in the Lee Creek area in Electoral Area F.

Due to the potential danger to life, health or property, and limited transportation areas in the Lee Creek area, the CSRD says an evacuation alert is in effect for:

• Beatrice Road
• Clubhouse Lane
• Cottonwood Drive
• Cottonwood Drive North
• Demster Road
• Eagle Lane
• Eva Road
• Freeman Road
• Heron Lane
• 1439, 1449, 1647, 1649 Holding Rd.
• Hopwood Road
• Lee Creek Drive
• Mabry Road
• Marina Way
• Osprey Lane
• Rainbow Lane
• Simpson Road
• Sockeye Lane
• 2199 TO 3087 Squilax-Anglemont Rd.

The evacuation alert comes as the Shuswap Emergency Program shifted its structure protection units as winds are expected to pick up and increase fire activity in the area.
