No plans to re-close nature parks: City of Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — With the onset of hot and dry conditions once again, much of the Kamloops Fire Centre has returned to an extreme fire danger rating.

However, the City of Kamloops says it has no plans to close the city’s nature parks again.

In a news release, the city says it “is prepared to allow nature spaces to remain open due to an increased presence and readiness from [B.C. Wildfire Service] in our area.”

Nature parks were closed on August 4 and reopened one week later after some rain and cooler temperatures.

The release goes on to encourage residents to be vigilant with regard to the dry conditions in city limits and to report fire starts immediately when they are observed.
