Legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Robbie Robertson dead at 80

The Band’s Robbie Robertson has died at the age of 80.
His manager confirmed the news in a statement today, saying the Canadian-born musician died after a long illness in California.
Before breaking out on their own as The Band, Robertson, along with fellow Canadians Rick Danko, Richard Manuel and Garth Hudson and American Levon Helm backed Ronnie Hawkins and Bob Dylan.
Their self-titled album along with “Music From Big Pink” profoundly influenced popular music in the 1960s and 1970s.
