Kamloops weather reprieve won’t last; sunshine and heat to return this weekend: Environment Canada

KAMLOOPS — Environment Canada says the weather reprieve Kamloops and area has experienced Wednesday (Aug. 9) won’t last long.

Forecaster Johnson Zhong says a cold front swept across the region Wednesday morning, bringing isolated rain showers and cooler temperatures.

However, Zhong says the cold front has already moved off, though some showers and instability is likely to linger into Thursday.

“The chance of showers continues [Thursday] morning, but after that, the flow of the weather pattern is going to be more zonal, which means a mix of sun and cloud with normal temperatures,” Zhong told CFJC Today.

He says it’s unlikely any area received rain accumulations greater than about 8 millimetres.

Toward the end of the week, some cloud and temperatures in the high-20s are expected, but Zhong says the more familiar summer conditions will be back by late weekend.

“There’s going to be a strong ridge building this weekend. By Sunday, expect that temperatures will build up again to the low- to mid-30s.”
