City of Kamloops nabs seized sports car through provincial grant, will use it to illustrate perils of criminal lifestyle
KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops vehicle fleet includes plenty of pickup trucks and compact cars — and now it includes a luxury sports car.
In a news release, the city says it has acquired a 2008 Porsche Cayman, a two-seater coupe provided to the city by a provincial grant through the B.C. Civil Forfeiture Profits of Crime program.
Community Education and Prevention Coordinator Amy Hilliard says the Porsche will not be sweeping streets or charioting Community Services Officers to their calls. Instead, Hilliard says it will be incorporated into the city’s Guns and Gangs Intervention and Prevention Program “to show that while the gang lifestyle may appear to be luxurious, it is far from it.”
Hilliard notes the car was seized after being identified as a criminal asset.
