RCMP Major Crime Unit investigates suspicious death along Paul Lake Road

TK’EMLUPS — The RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit (MCU) has been called in to investigate a suspicious death on Paul Lake Road.

In a brief news release, the MCU’s Staff Sgt. Jason Smart says the Kamloops detachment was called to the 600-block of Paul Lake Road at about 12:31 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 1).

Officers found the body of a male at that location. Investigators are treating the circumstances of the death as suspicious. Smart says the incident is believed to be isolated.

Paul Lake Road has been closed throughout the day Tuesday as investigators probe the scene. Motorists are advised to find an alternate route.

The Thompson Nicola Regional District is advising residents the Paul Lake Transfer Station is open Tuesday until 4:00 p.m. People located west of the road closure are encouraged to use different solid waste sites, such as those in Heffley Creek or Pritchard.
