Police watchdog looking into fatal fire near Boston Bar

BOSTON BAR, B.C. — B.C.’s police watchdog is looking into a woman’s death near Boston Bar four months ago.
In a news release, the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIO) says the woman died in a house fire on April 2, 2023. The home was located along the Trans Canada Highway, about seven kilometres north of Boston Bar.
Police notified the IIO, noting officers had responded to several requests for wellness checks at that address during the week prior to the fire.
The IIO is looking into whether the actions or inactions of police played a role in the woman’s death.
