Jul 30, 2023 | 8:23 AM

KAMLOOPS – B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS) has reported an increase in fire activity on the Ross Moore Lake wildfire.

According to authorities, the combination of southeasterly winds and high temperatures increased activity on the west flank of the fire yesterday. Similar conditions are expected today and crews are anticipating an increase in fire activity.

BCWS says there has been no growth towards the city of Kamloops and the majority of the increased wildfire activity has been within existing control lines. However, conditions can lead to increased smoke visible from the city and Highway 5.

As of 7:45 a.m. today (July 30), the Ross Moore Lake wildfire was reported at 2,721 hectares and located approximately 10 kilometres south of Kamloops.
