Structure protection equipment in place for Adams Lake wildfire
VERNON — Homes potentially at risk of wildfire in the Shuswap area are better protected from the nearby wildfire.
The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) stated a mass water delivery system was moved into the area under Evacuation Alert due to the Lower Adams Lake wildfire on Friday.
The new machinery, which was set up and tested Friday, was an addition to the Structure Protection Units the Shuswap Emergency Program had on standby in the area.
The CSRD noted the set-up of the equipment is not in response to any immediate threat to the community, stating there hasn’t been any significant growth to the fire perimeter and, due to the cooler weather and previous helicopter bucketing efforts, there was no expectation of increased fire behaviour on the southern flank closes to the residences.
