Concert combining Indigenous and non-Indigenous music returning in the fall
KAMLOOPS — A concert featuring a mixture of Indigenous and non-Indigenous performers will return to Kamloops once again.
In a news release issued Wednesday (July 26) morning, Margit Gossage and Rod Bandura of the Margit Sky Project announced that “Music for the People – A Cultural Experience” will take place at the Tk’emlups Powwow Arbour on Sept. 17, 2023. It will take place alongside the Kwsélkten Farmers’ and Artisan Market that runs from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“Last year’s concert was so successful that we just knew we had to bring it back and provide a place for the bridging of communities of neighbours, friends and families to come together to enjoy the harmony of the music and to experience our unique, collective cultures,” Gossage, who sings and plays rhythm guitar with the Margit Sky Project, says.
Like last year, the Margit Sky Project says this year’s Music for the People will feature performers from the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra and Sage Hills Singers, along with drummers and dancers to bring a unique blend of their respective cultures.
