Fuel spill potentially contaminates small Shuswap water system: CSRD
BLIND BAY, B.C. — Users of a water system in the Shuswap are asked to conserve water until further notice.
In a news release, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) says there’s a possible contamination in the Cedar Heights water system in Blind Bay due to fuel spilling out of a partially sunk houseboat Sunday (July 23) afternoon.
It’s not currently known how the fuel spill may have affected the Cedar Heights water system, although the CSRD says its intake has been shut down out of caution, and so water testing can take place Monday (July 24).
