Ross Moore Lake wildfire expands to 1,800 hectares as crews continue to fight the blaze

KAMLOOPS — What started as a small wildfire in Ross Moore Lake has since increased significantly.

As of 9:04 a.m. on Sunday (July 23), the B.C. Wildfire Service has reported the wildfire at 1,800 hectares. The wildfire is located 24 kilometers south of Kamloops.

Melanie Bibeau of the Kamloops Fire Centre says an initial attack crew and a response officer have been sent out Sunday morning to fight the raging fire. The wildfire was reported at 90 hectares on Friday evening (July 21) and has since expanded dramatically in size.

Bibeau also states heavy equipment is on site of the fire and task force are working on the southeast corner of the fire.
