Province issues smoky skies bulletin for Kamloops, Cariboo

KAMLOOPS — The fast-moving Ross Moore Lake wildfire is throwing a lot of smoke into the air, and that is one of the reasons the province’s Ministry of Environment has issued a smoky skies bulletin for the Kamloops area.

The Lac Le Jeune-area wildfire has now reached 1,800 hectares and is burning aggressively.

In its advisory, the ministry says thick smoke will blanket the North and South Thompson, as well as up into the Cariboo and east toward the Shuswap, over the next 24-to-48 hours.

Residents are advised to take precautions — especially those with respiratory conditions or sensitivities.
