Windstorm leads to power outage in downtown Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — Power was knocked out through parts of the downtown Monday afternoon when a windstorm blew through the city around shortly before 3 p.m.
Emergency crews were reporting downed power lines and a malfunctioning transformer. The outage covers an area from Victoria Street and First Avenue to Victoria Street and 11th Avenue and south to the Trans Canada Highway.
BC Hydro says 1,234 customers have lost electricity in the incident.
Although crews are working on the situation, it’s not clear when power will be restored.
