Kamloops Fire Centre provides update on Bush Creek East Wildfire
KAMLOOPS — A wildfire that started Wednesday (July 12) near Chase, has grown significantly.
The Bush Creek East wildfire is located west of Adams Lake and is measured at 265 hectares. The Kamloops Fire Centre says the wildfire was first spotted Wednesday evening but is since burning at a moderate to fast rate on the ground. It is believed lightning sparked the wildfire.
“We did see a significant size increase yesterday as a result of really elevated fire activity,” BC Wildfire Service Fire Information Officer Taylor Wallace told CFJC Today. “There’s a mix of factors on site that influenced the fire activity to increase. We did see really gusty winds on site at about 40 to 60 kilometers per hour which is quite gusty for the area.”
