Salmon Arm RCMP respond to crash and highway speeder

SALMON ARM, B.C. — Salmon Arm RCMP had a busy night on the highway Wednesday (July 12).

At approximately 7:55 p.m., mounties responded to a crash on Highway 1 at 30th St. NE.

A pickup truck was attempting a left turn off the Trans Canada when it collided with a semi truck.

The two occupants of the pickup “were shaken up” and suffered minor injuries, while the semi truck driver was uninjured in the crash.

The collision did result in fluids leaking from the damaged vehicles, and the fire department attended the scene to contain the fluids.

The RCMP’s investigation into the crash is ongoing and police ask witnesses or people with dashcam footage from the crash to come forward.

Later that night, police pulled over a vehicle travelling at excessive speeds.

Mounties said a patrolling officer observed a vehicle going 144 km/h in a 90 zone in Tappen at approximately 11:20 p.m.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver was ticketed for excessive speed and their vehicle was impounded.
