KAMLOOPS — The B.C. Wildfire Service says a fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon (July 12) just east of Rayleigh grew quickly but is now being held.
On its website, BCWS says the Upper Cold Creek wildfire was discovered Wednesday at about 3:00 p.m. and grew to 71.5 hectares.
As of Thursday afternoon, though, the fire is described as ‘being held,’ meaning it is unlikely to spread beyond its established boundaries.
The fire is suspected to have been caused by a lightning strike.
