BC Transit concludes no wrongdoing from bus driver after incident on Kamloops transit bus
KAMLOOPS — After concluding its investigation into an incident that took place on a bus in Kamloops, B.C. Transit says there was no wrongdoing on the part of the driver of that bus.
Cassandra Strain claims her daughter, step-daughter and niece, who each have disabilities, were on a bus heading to downtown with their youth worker on June 28. Strain says her step-daughter was trying to get off the front of the bus because she needed assistance to get off there when the bus driver would not let her off because he was “running behind” and proceeded to drive off. Meantime, Strain says her daughter and niece had already departed through the back door of the bus and were left alone.
In an email to CFJC News, B.C. Transit provided the following statement regarding the investigation.
“BC Transit conducted an internal investigation into the incident that occurred on a BC Transit bus in Kamloops on June 28. This included review of CCTV footage retrieved from the bus in question. Our organization has determined there was no wrongdoing on the part of the Transit Operator, who followed protocol for customers indicating a desire to depart the bus.
