Spot-sized fire pops up just west of Sun Peaks

SUN PEAKS, B.C. — B.C. Wildfire Service personnel are responding to a spot-sized fire that has popped up outside of Sun Peaks.

Fire Information Officer Taylor Shantz says the Henderson Creek fire was first noticed Wednesday morning (July 12).

Shantz says the fire is just west of the mountain resort municipality.

“There is no concern for public safety at this time,” Shantz told CFJC Today. “It is about 4.5 kilometres from Sun Peaks, so the smoke might be visible, but B.C. Wildfire is not concerned at this time.”

Five BCWS personnel are responding to the fire with a helicopter.
