Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Kamloops and area Wednesday

KAMLOOPS — A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the City of Kamloops and surrounding area.
In an online weather statement Wednesday (July 12) morning, Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms in the South Thompson region that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Intense lightning is also likely with any thunderstorm.
The weather agency warns that heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
