KAMLOOPS — Five more wildfires have been spotted in parts of the Interior and near Vernon as the heat warning continues in parts of the province.
The Kamloops Fire Centre says four of those fires are out of control and one is under control. One was located in McDougal Creek near Clearwater, the others were located at Dry Lake and Allison Lake near Merritt. Another wildfire was spotted Friday night (July 7) in Spallumcheen near Vernon listed at 3.22 hectares.
All other wildfires are listed under one hectare. The Fire Centre suspects dry lightning was the cause behind the wildfires but is under investigation.
The Fire Centre expects more fires to hold over.
