KAMLOOPS — Smoke from distant wildfires in northern B.C. and Alberta have entered the Kamloops airshed. And it appears the smoke could hang around for a few days.

Residents of the region, woke up to clear skies, but before the noon hour had arrived, wildfire smoke had moved in.

According to the website Firesmoke.ca, the smoke could remain in the skies overhead for at least another two days. Smoke intensity is predicted to fluctuate over the next few days. But the worst air is expected to cover Kamloops this evening and again Tuesday morning.

The Cariboo Fire Centre issued an advisory Monday (Jul. 3) asking residents of that region to take precautions to deal with the smoke. It says those with existing health conditions should reduce their level and physical activity and stay indoors.
