Pair of Blazers taken late, Kamloops local selected by the Canucks in 2023 NHL Draft

KAMLOOPS — A pair of Kamloops Blazers were taken late in the 2023 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft.

In the seventh round, the Detroit Red Wings selected Emmitt Finnie – a 2005-born center – 201st overall while the Winnipeg Jets selected Connor Levis – a 2004-born forward – 210th overall.

Finnie scored 35 points (nine goals and 26 assists) in 64 games with the Blazers during the 2022-23 Western Hockey League (WHL) season while Levis finished fifth in Blazers scoring with 67 points (27 goals and 40 assists) in 68 games.

Elsewhere, A Kamloops native was selected by B.C.’s NHL team.
