RCMP Musical Ride trots back to Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — For the first time since 2017, the RCMP Musical Ride made its return to Kamloops Thursday (June 22). Thirty-two Mounties made their way onto the tracks with their horses at Kamloops RaceCentral showcasing their horses talents.

“There’s a lot of planning, including the hay for the horses… getting the stalls ready, getting all the partners in place, getting the right venue.” Event Coordinator Peter Lishman told CFJC Today.

The Musical Ride performs at nearly 50 communities across Canada every year from May to October. That means horses prepare for the show in advance.

“They train six months a year in Ottawa,” Lishman added. “That’s where they’re located as a lot of riders are based in Ottawa. Some of them, I believe, do a two-year stint and then they cycle in and out.”
