Kamloops man arrested after attempted weapons assault at McArthur Island Park

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops man was arrested after allegedly attempting to assault people with a weapon in McArthur Island Park.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP say they were called to McArthur Island Park at around 12:30 p.m. Sunday (June 18) where a man was reportedly yelling at a person in a vehicle and blocking the roadway, then turned to two other people who yelled for him to stop. Police say the man then reportedly showed off a weapon and made threats towards the pair.

Officers say they arrived and arrested a suspect, who attempted to evade police and resisted arrested. The man was eventually released with a court date.
