Massive Canada to open $75M prefab housing plant in Williams Lake
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — The provincial government is kicking in $10 million to help start up a mass-timber production facility in Williams Lake.
In a news release, Premier David Eby says the $75-million facility will produce prefabricated dwelling units like laneway homes, apartments and townhouses, as well as commercial projects.
Eby says the plant, owned and operated by Massive Canada, will create 70 new jobs for the Williams Lake area.
“Supporting manufacturing companies to grow and develop innovative, value-added products creates opportunities to get more jobs out of every tree,” said Eby. “Innovative projects like this one support families and communities through the transition from high-volume to high-value production. Everyone involved in this exciting new initiative should be proud of this good, province-building work.”
