KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack men’s soccer club went across the pond for their latest recruit.

In a news release issued Friday (June 16), the WolfPack announced that Harry Taylor will join the club for the 2023 Canada West season. The London, England player is described by Head Coach John Antulov as having a skillset that allows him to play anywhere on the pitch but best suited at centre back and defensive midfield.

“From the first Zoom call with John I had a great feeling about TRU and Kamloops,” Taylor says. “Everything seems to be done very professionally within the football – soccer – side. I feel it’s a great opportunity to get back to a level of football I believe I should be playing at… I’m really looking forward to continuing my education. Never thought I’d earn a degree which makes this opportunity even more exciting.”

Prior to TRU, Taylor signed with Aldershot Town FC’s youth academy at eight years old. He starred in their youth setup for 10 years before making his first team debut at the age of 18. He’s appeared in more than 100 matches with clubs such as Aldershot Town and Charlton Athletic.

“His experience is massive,” Antulov says. “Harry is still a young guy and has a lot of room for growth but for him to already, at such a young age, have played at such a high level it’s massive for us and our program.”

The WolfPack begin their national championship defence on Aug. 25 in Langley when they play Trinity Western University.
