RCMP looking to find owners of firearms washed away in Merritt flooding

MERRITT, B.C. — Merritt RCMP are looking to identify the rightful owner of some seized firearms that are believed to have washed downstream in the flooding of November 2021.

In a news release, police say anyone in Merritt who lost firearms due to the flood and have not yet reported them in the near two years is encouraged to do so.

A photo and description of the firearms were not provided, and police say residents are told to be prepared to provide proof of ownership.
