New wildfires spotted in North Thompson following stormy conditions

KAMLOOPS — A number of new wildfires were spotted Saturday (Jun. 10) in the North Thompson region according to the latest mapping from the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS).
Although the BCWS hasn’t designated a cause for most of the fires, their arrival coincides with an electrical storm that crossed over the region in the evening hours.
The string of a half dozen fires runs from just west of Barriere to the northern edge of Wells Gray Park.
The BC Wildfire Service is expected to release more information about the size of the fires later today.
