Merritt’s Roger Sloan in contention heading to weekend at Canadian Open

MERRITT — Merritt’s Roger Sloan is in contention ahead of round three at the Canadian Open in Toronto.

The golfer from the Nicola Valley will enter moving day at -5, in a tie for 18th place, four strokes behind the current leaders. Sloan who lost his full-time PGA Tour Card last season earned a sponsor exemption into the tournament. Sloan will also be competing in next weeks US Open after qualifying in May for the major.

A number of other Canadian are also in contention at their home event, Corey Conners is in 2nd place, at -8. Adam Hadwin, Taylor Pendrith and Wil Bateman are also in the hunt entering round three.

Sloan tees off for round 3 at 10:40 Saturday.
