Equipment failure knocks out power to thousands in Kamloops, North Thompson

KAMLOOPS — Thousands of Kamloops and North Thompson residents lost B.C. Hydro service Thursday afternoon (June 8).

The utility says power was knocked out to about 12,000 customers just before 3:00 p.m. in a series of outages.

Properties that are affected stretch from north of Clearwater down through Barriere and Sun Peaks to Kamloops.

According to the corporation’s outage page, most of the outages were caused by transmission circuit failure.
