Campfires banned in Kamloops, Cariboo regions as of Thursday

KAMLOOPS — The province is banning campfires in both the Kamloops and Cariboo Fire Centres as of this Thursday (June 8).

In a news release, the province says Category 1 fires will join Category 2 and 3 open burning on the prohibited list at 12:00 noon Thursday.

The campfire bans are slated to remain in place until October 13 or until the province rescinds them.
