Activities planned for National Health and Fitness day in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops has partnered with Pacific Sport Interior BC to celebrate National Health and Fitness Day.

“Physical activity is a powerful tool for our mental, physical, and social well-being. Let’s celebrate the benefits of activity and motivate ourselves and others to move, feel good, and share the joy of the great outdoors,” said Kimberly Maine, the City’s Health and Wellness Coordinator. “There is no better time than now to start moving and to keep moving to stay mentally and physically healthy.”

“A variety of free activities will take place at McDonald Park (262 King Street) on June 3, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Bring snacks and a lunch and enjoy free activities in one of the city’s oldest and grandest parks. Bring your swimsuits to enjoy the open water park from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm,” reads a press release.

Activities being offered are family friendly and suitable for all ages, skill levels, and abilities.

Free Drop-In Event Schedule:

9:30–10:30 am Qi Gong in the Park
10:00–11:00 am Physical Literacy Games
10:00 am–1200 pm Intro to Pickleball
11:00 am–12:00 pm Yoga in the Park

Free Drop-In Family Games and Activities from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm:

  • Basketball
  • Soccer
  • Badminton
  • Fun, family-friendly lawn games
  • Free-play toddler activities

The City is also offering free access to the Tournament Capital Centre gym, indoor track and Wellness Centre from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm and the gym at the Westsyde Fitness Centre from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.
