WILLIAMS LAKE — The BC Wildfire Service is raising concerns over the possibility of strong winds sweeping across the Cariboo.
In a news release Thursday (Jun. 1), the Cariboo Fire Centre is asking the public and industry to be vigilant in the backcountry. It even suggests returning to check any recent burn piles to ensure they have been completely extinguished.
It says the region could see wind gusts of up to 45 kph.
Unseasonably windy, dry and hot conditions have resulted in 58 fires which have burned 1,797 hectares within the Cariboo region. The majority of the fires have been human-caused.
