Small wildfire along Highway 97 under control

KAMLOOPS — The BC Wildfire Service says a four-hectare wildfire burning near Falkland is now under control.

The fire started early Wednesday morning (May 31) and burned along Highway 97 at Salmon River Road. Emergency officials say the fire had little impact on traffic along the highway.

Crews from the Silver Creek Fire Department helped to fight the blaze. Members of the Fire Department worked with local residents to fight the fire. Some of the residents used heavy equipment to build fireguards and prevent the blaze from spreading.

There is no report of structures being damaged by the fire.
