Arrest made after cyclist struck by apparent rock in Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP arrested one man after a cyclist was struck in the head with what appeared to be a rock, while passing underneath the Halston Bridge this week.
Officers were in the area on an unrelated call when they witnessed the woman being struck in the head with an object while riding a bicycle. She was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
“Police immediately identified and arrested a suspect under the bridge deck for assault with a weapon,” said Kamloops RCMP Corporal Crystal Evelyn. The suspect was placed in police cells as the initial investigation was conducted. He has since been released with conditions and has a court date scheduled.
The assault took place Monday (May 29) at approximately 1:10 p.m. at the Halston Bridge at Schubert Drive. Police are asking any witnesses who were in the area at the time, to come forward with any information on the case.
