Former Merritt-area NDP MLA Harry Lali endorses Falcon, joins B.C. United
MERRITT, B.C. — A former NDP MLA from Merritt says he is changing teams and supporting the opposition B.C. United.
In a statement, Harry Lali says he believes the B.C. NDP has become an “urban-interest party,” and has abandoned smaller rural communities in the province.
Lali was the NDP MLA for Yale-Lillooet during the 1990s and from 2005 to 2009. In 2009, he was elected in the newly-created Fraser-Nicola riding. He was defeated by B.C. Liberal Jackie Tegart in 2013 and 2017, and failed to win the party’s nomination in the riding in 2020.
In his statement, Lali says he has not been a B.C. NDP member since December, 2020.
