KAMLOOPS — A drug trafficking investigation that began in January led Kamloops RCMP to arresting a man and seizing cash, drugs, guns and vehicles in Batchelor Heights.

In a news release issued Tuesday (May 9), RCMP say tens of thousands of dollars in cash, two guns, two Tasers and 4.5 kilograms of suspected illegal drugs were seized at a home on Stagecoach Drive on May 3. The drugs included three kilograms of fentanyl, one kilogram of cocaine and 550 grams of methamphetamine.

“Illicit drug toxicity was responsible for approximately 90 deaths in the Kamloops area in 2022,” Sgt. Todd Woon says. “The presence of over 30,000 doses of fentanyl in this residence posed a significant risk to public safety, not only through the potential of overdoses, but also due to the gun violence this type of activity brings to the community.”

Anyone with information related to local drug trafficking is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.
