Police rush to McGowan Park Elementary after threats report; situation now clear

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say a large police presence near McGowan Park Elementary in Sahali Monday afternoon (May 8) was prompted by a threats report.

Police received the report just before 3:00 p.m. Monday, rushing to the school on Tremerton Drive.

In a news release, detachment spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the report came in after students had been dismissed for the day.

“Out of an abundance of caution, officers searched the school as part of the investigation and nothing that appeared suspicious was located,” said Evelyn.

The Mounties thank students, parents and staff for their patience and cooperation, and ask anyone with further information on the report to call Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2023-15932.
