Family confirms remains found in Nicola River as Daniel Nathan Meeker

MERRITT, B.C. — The family of a missing Merritt man has confirmed on social media that his remains were located on Saturday, April 29.

Daniel Nathan Meeker crashed into the Nicola River near the Nicola Lake Dam on the evening of June 19, 2022.

In a news release issued last June, RCMP said Daniel Nathan Meeker – a 42-year-old man from Douglas Lake, B.C. – is still outstanding and believed to have washed down the Nicola River toward Merritt. RCMP say according to witnesses, the vehicle quickly submerged, and the lone occupant surfaced briefly before disappearing underwater.

Merritt RCMP Sgt. Josh Roda confirmed that human remains were recovered in the river but was not able to comment further last week when asked by CFJC News.

The family of Meeker had been conducting searches of the area for any sign of him over the past number of weekends.
