Emergency test alert being issued in Kamloops Wednesday

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops will issue a city-wide test alert on Wednesday (May 3) through Voyent Alert!, its emergency notification system.

In a news release, the city says the test will go out by SMS text, phone call, email and as a notification through the mobile app, depending on what type of messaging each resident has registered for. The critical alert will have a loud horn noise to all Voyent Alert! subscribers within city boundaries. The city did not specify when the test alert would take place.

Registered app users are asked to verify that the app is active on their devices and open their app, or log into their accounts online, to ensure their locations are positioned accurately.

Voyent Alert! will be used to alert and update Kamloops residents in the event of an evacuation alert or order being put in place due to flood or wildfire. If used, the city says the notification will include important information about the event and instructions for if any action is required.
